President's Welcome Address
Follow Nigerians, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. It is with great honor and gratitude to God that I welcome you to this event, Nigeria’s 58th Independence Day.
We usually make a mistake by remembering the heroic deeds of only few past Presidents, Head of States and Freedom fighters, but our Independence was a collective effort. Without cooperative sacrifice and involvement of all Nigerians, our Independence would have been impossible. So people of Nigerian we are the real national heroes behind the success.
Being an Independent Country gives us rights, privilege, freedom and opportunities. It binds us as a nation and gives us power on the world stage. I stand before you now knowing that our fore-fathers have paved the way for this great nation to be proud in its Independence.
It is our civic duty to carry and pass on the baton. The survival of this unique heritage depends on our individual commitment to promote unity, integrity, cooperation, mutual understanding and support with our community. Just like our fore-fathers. We will need to build a strong community and share the same culture and give our children the opportunity of knowing who they are and where they come from.
Special thanks to the ten mother (Associations and Individuals) that stepped up to make this occasion a reality. This is just a beginning; we will not stop until we are strong together. Relax and enjoy the day. THE CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE.
